Battery Runtime Calculator
Estimate how long your battery will last based on total capacity (mAh), load current (mA), and real-world efficiency (%).
Enter required values to calculate runtime
Estimated Results:
Runtime (Hours):
0.000 hr
Runtime (Minutes):
0.000 min
How to Use
- Enter battery capacity in milliamp-hours (mAh), e.g., 2000 mAh or 2600 mAh.
- Enter expected average load current draw in milliamperes (mA).
- Optionally specify power delivery / battery discharge efficiency (e.g. 80% to 90%).
- Click CALCULATE to get runtime in both hours and minutes.
Battery Runtime Formula
Standard Formula:
Runtime (Hours) = (Capacity × Efficiency) / Current
Where Capacity is in mAh, Current is in mA, and Efficiency is expressed as a fraction (e.g. 85% = 0.85).
Battery Formula Table
| Parameter | Formula | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Ideal Runtime (Hours) | Capacity (mAh) / Current (mA) |
Assumes 100% discharge efficiency with no voltage drop losses. |
| Adjusted Real-world Runtime | (Capacity × (Efficiency / 100)) / Current |
Accounts for Peukert's effect, regulator losses, and ambient temperature. |
| Runtime (Minutes) | Runtime (Hours) × 60 |
Estimated operational runtime in total minutes. |
